Warm Springs Ranch

Warm Springs Ranch is where the Clydesdales are bred and raised for Anheiser Busch. From here the horses are shipped to the other locations were the actual sled pulling teams are put together.

An adult male can weigh up to 2000-2500 lbs. They get all prettied up in this wash room with all sorts of shampoos and conditioners to get their hair all nice, shiny, and feathery.

Foals can weigh from 150-200 lbs when born. This little guy was born the night before. He doesn't have the markings of a Budweiser gelding, so he will be sold off to some other caretaker.

This stud's name is Duke and he was definitely a gentle giant, as are most all Clydesdales. He had a sweet spot behind his right ear that made him lean into you like a dog would.

Rock Bridge Park

With the spurt of beautiful weather that we have had, William wanted to go mountain biking with some of my co-workers. I decided to take the dogs for a hike. Sad to say, the "Devil's Ice Box" wasn't open. There is this nasty white nose syndrome going around that has led to the demise of several of our bat friends. A lot of the caves have been shut down in hopes that the bat's habitat will be protected.

The hike ended up being a stair master. My legs definitely had a work out, especially at the pace the dogs wanted to go.

Afterwards I let Cella and Marbre play in the water. Cella preferred laying down in the water to cool off.

The House of Dogs

Back at the Hitchcock home, Warren had come for the holidays. He also brought his big puppy dog with him. Unfortunately Cella and Marbre weren't so sure about him, they didn't get along so well.

Here is Vash enjoying his bone. He is a pure bred German Shepard and is less than a year old...big puppy!

Cella was very concerned about the safety of her bone. She wandered around a long time before settling down.

Marbre had to be coaxed to eat her bone. She was fine after a while though.

Mario Faces

These fake mustaches were a prize in the white elephant gift game we did at Christmas.

We all look pretty ridiculous, but I think I like the picture of Daniel best.

Chirstmas at the Meyers

Seth's first Christmas off his mission...can you see his excitement?!

My first time hunting down a Christmas tree. I have learned some very valuable things when hunting down the perfect tree. First, get a pair of good snow boats; second, actually, refer back to number one, that's the only one that really matters.

Didn't we find a good one?!

A new kitten has been added to the family. Isn't it so cute! He took after his mother in that he is polydactyl...meaning he has extra digits.

Getting the Dogs

So we ended up getting two dogs instead of just one. The humane society didn't seem to want to give up just Cella, so we ended up getting Marbre as well. Cella is the doberman/lab.

Marbre was really funny looking when we first got her. She was a stray and very malnourished. We ended up getting blood work done on her because no one had a clue want kind of breed she was. Any guesses?!?! As it turns out, she is part german shepard and boxer.

Teddy wasn't too excited about the new arrangements though.

Crochet

When the family gets together Mom usually convinces us all to play a game of crochet.

The best thing about crochet though is that it is anyone's game.

Joplin Tornado

There was a ton of damage caused by the tornado that went through Joplin last year. William and I had gone down to pick up a dog. The humane society down there was doing mass adoptions since so many animals were left abandoned. We waited several hours but ended up leaving empty handed.
